Course Overview
Leadership extends beyond traditional management skills; it is fundamentally about steering human capital—the essential force transforming visionary infrastructure projects into reality. In today’s dynamic business environment, leaders are pivotal not only because of their rich experience in project delivery but also due to the financial imperatives and evolving employment regulations. Human resources functions have increasingly become consultative, with specialists offering their expertise as needed, transferring day-to-day responsibilities to managers. These managers are now at the forefront, addressing issues traditionally within human resource specialists’ purview.

Recruiting the right people is crucial to the success of the organisation and the project. It is imperative the manager understands the job context, inclusive of desired outcomes and the ability to clearly define the role and responsibilities. They must have a vision of what success looks like and are able to articulate it without drawing on bias, stereotypes or applying an unrealistic selection process. The process can be lengthy, complex, expensive and presents many opportunities for making poor decisions as well as making the right decision.

This course aims to provide practical insights, suggestions and examples of simples, cost effective ways of improving the recruitment and selection process. Whilst this course is aimed at managers, it will also help those applying for jobs.

This course delves into the crucial aspects of recruiting and selecting the right team, which is integral to both the success of the organisation and its projects. Managers must understand the broader context of their roles, including expected outcomes and the competencies needed to achieve these goals. They should envision success clearly and communicate effectively, ensuring the recruitment process is free from biases and stereotypes while avoiding overly complex or unrealistic selection criteria. Given the potential length, complexity and cost of the recruitment process, it is fraught with challenges and opportunities for decision-making.

Participants partaking in this course will gain practical insights and learn simple, cost-effective strategies to enhance the recruitment and selection processes. This course provides actionable suggestions and real-world examples tailored for managers and offers valuable perspectives for job applicants.

Important note: This course does not cover specific aspects of employment law. Managers should be cognizant of the legal frameworks relevant to their business and project locations and understand how these laws impact both employees and company policies.

Participants have 48 hours to the course from the first access date.
