Dr. Silvia Fossati’s Remarkable Journey with FIDIC 

Celebrating 20 Years of Dedication to FIDIC Training:

June 2025 marks a truly special milestone for FIDIC, and particularly for FIDIC HQ’s training and capacity building, as Dr Silvia Fossati (FIDIC Academy’s Training Manager) celebrates 20 years of unwavering service to FIDIC’s capacity building efforts. With two decades of dedication, passion, and professionalism, Silvia has played an instrumental role in shaping the learning journey of thousands of professionals across the globe in the infrastructure sector. Moreover, the work invested in capacity building at FIDIC over the past 20 years laid the strong foundations for the creation of FIDIC’s official training entity, FIDIC Academy, in 2022.

From the early days of organising training sessions to today’s ever-evolving digital learning landscape, Silvia has been at the heart of FIDIC’s educational mission and progress. Her deep commitment to quality, her tireless support for trainers and course participants alike, and her ever-welcoming presence have made her not just a key member of the FIDIC Academy, but a beloved figure across the entire FIDIC ecosystem.

On this momentous occasion, Silvia commented:

“In June 2005, I joined a tiny FIDIC office, with only 5 employees in vintage beige office premises, very much 70s style. I experienced a significant series of changes, particularly in the number of training sessions provided – from about 4 or 5 per year during my engagement to more than 165 last year – as well as growth in staff and services, global reach, and management styles. The last 20 years have been a source of inspiration, evolution, learning and satisfaction for me. And I’m sure that the next few years will be full of even more pleasure, discovery and sharing.”

Silvia’s legacy lies not only in the countless successful training sessions she has helped facilitate, but also in the trust and relationships she has built over the years with a wide variety of FIDIC stakeholders – including member associations, government entities, international banks, and infrastructure firms around the world.

On this anniversary, the whole infrastructure sector extends its heartfelt thanks to Silvia for her 20 years of service. FIDIC Academy would not be what it is today without her. Here’s to the journey so far – and to many more great years ahead!
