Deepen your expertise in Dispute Boards. We will explore different types of alternative dispute resolution techniques including mediation, early neutral evaluation, non-binding recommendations, and the benefits of the Dispute Board. We will also look at the history of FIDIC Dispute Boards from the Orange book to the 1999 forms. We will explore the differences between ad-hoc and standing Dispute Boards and delve into the latest iteration of Dispute Boards adopted in the 2017 FIDIC Suite, which stress the avoidance element of dispute boards: Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards (DAABs).
This advanced-level course requires a heavy level of interaction with the trainer, where the participant will be expected to bring their own experiences to the workshop. The workshop will combine legal insight, practical procedures, and case-based workshops to allow practitioners to understand the process of adjudication and dispute avoidance with more clarity.
Backed by real-world case studies and expert input, you’ll learn to analyse disputes, explore how site visits operate, delve into the hearing process, and apply best practices from both the 1999 and 2017 FIDIC editions.

The live online course events, assessments and discussions will take place on FIDIC Academy’s eLearning platform.

This course will consist of four 4-hour sessions which are usually scheduled from 13:00 – 17:00 CET/CEST weekly.

All live training sessions will be recorded, which you will be able to watch in case you can’t attend a live event. Participants will have access to the recordings and learning material for 3 months after the course end date.

Prerequisites
Having attended FIDIC Contracts Introductory Course and FIDIC Claims and Disputes Course or having previous practical knowledge including claims and disputes under FIDIC Contracts is recommended. This online course also requires a good level of English.
Technical access
This online course requires that participants have access to a computer with an internet connection either at their workplace or at home, whichever is more convenient regarding the timing of the sessions.
Official FIDIC Academy certificate
An online FIDIC Academy certificate of completion will be provided to the participants having attended all sessions (either live or recorded) and having submitted all of the case studies/ tests/ assignments (only if applicable – at the trainers’ discretion if they wish to set any) on the FIDIC Academy eLearning platform. The certificate will be issued via email and can be shared on social media, downloaded in PDF format and printed as required.
The participants who do not meet this requirement will not receive the certificate of completion.
