FIDIC Academy will host the in-person workshop on Dispute Avoidance Mechanisms under FIDIC Contracts right before the ICC FIDIC Conference on International Construction Contracts and Dispute Resolution taking place from 14 October 2025 in Paris, France. This intensive one-day workshop offers a deep dive into the multi-tier dispute resolution mechanisms embedded within FIDIC contracts. It focuses on the roles of both the Engineer and the Dispute Board (DB) in facilitating the avoidance and resolution of disputes.

Through a blend of presentations and practical exercises, participants will explore best practices for dispute avoidance, understand the procedures for dispute resolution under FIDIC, and learn how effective contract management can contribute to smoother project delivery. This workshop is designed to provide a balanced mix of theoretical understanding and hands-on application, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to minimise disputes and manage them effectively when they arise.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
–  Understand the key functions and responsibilities of the Engineer and Dispute Board under FIDIC contracts.
–  Appreciate the importance of early dispute avoidance strategies and how they may be implemented.
–  Navigate the multi-tier dispute resolution process with greater confidence and clarity.
–  Recognise practical measures that contracting parties can take to foster cooperation and resolve disputes efficiently.

Prerequisites
Having attended FIDIC Contracts Introductory Course and FIDIC DAB/DABs Course or having previous practical knowledge including claims and disputes under FIDIC contracts is recommended. This in-person workshop requires a good level of English.

Official FIDIC certificate
An online FIDIC Academy Certificate of Completion will be provided to the participants having attended the in-person workshop at the venue. The certificate will be issued via email and can be shared on social media, downloaded in PDF format and printed as required.

The participants who do not meet this requirement will not receive the Certificate of Completion.
